Making Hispanic Ministry the Priority!

Greetings from CHM Director David Byrne!
Dr. David C. Byrne
The goodness of God is shown daily in infinite ways, but it is in the context of the brokenness and sinfulness of the world that God’s mercy most shines. When Paul was ruminating on Christ’s sacrifice in Romans 5, he considers that it would be rare for a person to sacrifice one’s self for a righteous or even a good person, but God came and gave his life for us while we were still an evil mess.
Good overcomes evil. Forgiveness is offered to the lost. Purity replaces sinfulness, and God’s goodness permeates every fiber of this universe through Jesus, who holds all things together. Glory to God in the highest!
As Hispanic and Anglo Christians work together it is with the purpose of advancing that work of God and participating in His goodness for His glory. The church is not an Anglo or Hispanic church, it is Jesus’ church. So it has been especially encouraging to me lately to see how God knits us together for that task through conferences, initiatives, new churches, and just sharing stories of God’s good news in people’s lives.   Let us give ourselves for one another – even for those who are not like us – so Jesus can reign.

            Sincerely,
            David C. Byrne

At the back.
Sitting at the Back?

I’ve noticed that even when people sit comfortably at the back of the sanctuary, opportunity is still made available to give to God’s work.  That is because the need is great and all Christians are called to involvement.  If you’ve been “sitting at the back” but feel led to give toward advancing Hispanic Ministry, this is a good time of year to send an offering. If you would like to give to a specific project, give David Byrne a call and find out about special needs or ongoing projects where you or your church can help.

Ministerial Aliance of Friends
The Hispanic ministerial alliance of Friends got a new burst of energy recently when pastors from across the U.S. had the chance to minister to one another and to other representatives in conferences, workshops, classes and fellowship.  Very productive meetings were held by the AMANA leadership that planned out conferences and their locations through 2016. Meeting of Friends In March of 2015 there will be a meeting in the Las Vegas Church for the AMANA board of directors and regional representatives. It will be followed up in October with the annual conference.  We thank God for the cooperative spirit and vision that was shared that led to these and other advances.
 We Gather Together....
North American Hispanic Friends - 2014
“let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together  Hebrews 10:24-25

In last month’s newsletter we mentioned briefly about the North American Hispanic Friends Conference but we wanted to give more detail about that significant event.  The theme was “New Vision” for leaders, families and churches and we saw that vision become much clearer as we met together.Isaí Ramos and Family
Pastor Isaí Ramos (pictured with his family) attended for the first time as a new church-planting pastor from Oklahoma City and gave a stirring call to obedience and evangelism. Members of the AMANA leadership including Pastors Jorge Noreña, Lorena and Amilcar Sosa, and Arnoldo García all shared in messages and workshops.
Fun in the Pews
Juan    Of course, not everything that went on in the pews was deeply spiritual and much of the blessing took place in the fellowship as Friends together enjoyed the excellent hospitality of the host church in Baltimore.
As a movement of God, the Hispanic Church in North America is still young, but it is maturing and will continue to mature as vision is shared and obedience to Christ is expected within a context of mutual respect and trust.  Little by little those bonds are being formed through contact with one another and through ministry together.

News & Prayer
Pray for the ongoing development of the Hispanic Church in North America.  So much is being done and your church should be involved at some level.  Pray that God will guide you and the Christians in your congregation to do your part.

Pray for the Hispanic church-planting efforts near you, their leadership and their unity with one another.
Pray for the financial needs of Hispanic ministries that generally serve less affluent and often transitory congregations. Pray that God will provide and consider how you can partner with God in His answer.

Thanks for praying for the Byrne Family.  We appreciate the work God does through you and send along our family Christmas greetings in pdf or as a webpage.
